Fire Proof

So I just wanted to do a quick blog about the movie "Fire Proof". It has taken me months to watch it, and I finally got a copy from the library and I have to say that I LOVE it. I would recommend it to anyone, especially anyone in a marriage, or about to go into a marriage or about to get out of a marriage, or was in a marriage.

Basically it's about a couple how has a bad marriage and works it out. Sounds simple, and cheesy and there is also a lot of Christian cheese too, not to mention Kirk Cameron stars in it, which could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your thoughts about the man.

But the movie was surprisingly wonderful! Yes there are a few moments of bad acting, yes there are several over the top moments of coming to Jesus. (which isn't bad, just a little cheesy) But man did I love the overall message. It is a great blueprint for any and every relationship we are in. Not only husband and wife, but all relationships. It's about learning to love unconditionally, that when you feel the love of God, you learn to love EVERYONE around you. It's about the importance of serving those we love and are close to. It's about loving people in a Christ-like way. That's why I loved this movie.

Even if you don't believe in God, I think the idea of serving one another is vital to all successful relationships, and something that is easy to forget in this selfish world. I know I have my fair share of selfishness, like everyone moment of everyday. And yes, I believe it's important to do things for our self, and have a few selfish moments, but this movie was a great reminder about the joy that comes when we bring joy to others.

I would recommend it to anyone, with the warning that there is a lot of Christian cheese, and if you're not into that to overlook it. If you are into it, then you REALLY should watch this. And if you can, try to grab your significant other to watch it with you. It's a great reminder to everyone how precious the marriage relationship is.
